Allow Me to Re-introduce Myself

It’s been almost a year since I last wrote on my blog. I wish I hadn’t stopped writing. I look back at pictures on my cell phone and just think of the things I would have written about my children. This year I’m determined to write every day - even if it’s just a short paragraph. I’m determined to post a blog at least once a week. The truth is, I enjoy writing. I like to think I’m good at it and I’d really like to develop and improve my writing (especially my grammar).

Who am I?

Hi! I’m Ruth. Depending on the day, I may also be Jennifer or Mayra. I use these two names for to-go orders and coffee at Starbucks. I don’t lie about my name but simply say, “you can put it under Jennifer,” or, “pongalo bajo el nombre de Mayra,” at places that have Spanish speaking employees. I’ve encountered many instances where people have trouble pronouncing and/or hearing my name. It’s weird. It’s only one syllable, but it happens. So, why those two names? Well, I love JLo, so duh. And my besties name is Mayra. It works out.

Five Fun Facts (Triple F – ha!):

  • I’m a loving (depending on the day) wife and mom of two – a sweet, smart, and loving four year old boy, Humberto and a stubborn, life-loving little girl, Rebecca. Humberto loves super heroes, flour tortillas (don’t even think about giving him a corn tortilla), and wants to be just like his dad. Becca (sigh) Becca, is crazy! She’s funny and stubborn – so freaking stubborn. She loves getting into my makeup and throwing tantrums when she doesn’t get her way. I just know that she’ll accomplish so much in this life.

  • I’m currently serving on active duty in the Army. I’m stationed in Texas and pretty much bleed red, white, and blue. Just kidding, but for real.

  • I have a BAD habit of interrupting people when they’re speaking. Not something I’m proud of, but I’m working on it and have gotten better at it since one of my previous supervisors called me out about it years ago. I’m grateful for that because that’s annoying.

  • I don’t go a day without reading. Most days I wake up early to read. Otherwise I can’t, because kids. I also listen to audiobooks while I drive, cook, and clean. If I enjoy the book enough, I purchase a hard copy to have on my bookshelf and go back to reference.

  • I opened a business with my sister and sister-in-law last year and hope to be able to write all about my experience. I hope to open a few more businesses before I turn 40.

I can share many more fun facts, but for the sake of not making this post long AF, I’ll stop here. Like I said, my goal is to post at least once a week. I hope you follow along and enjoy what I write.

Take care,

Ruth
